I didn’t know that someone would center a story around your experience. So I spent so many years of my life negotiating, How much do I give of myself? Will I be typecast? Will I be able to do work? Will I be able to get health insurance?

All of these are real things that I think Black artists—and [especially] Black queer artists—feel. So for this film to center a Black, queer man and his strength, I think affirms the Oakland raiders NFL santa claus Christmas shirt and I love this little 17-year-old Jeremy that moved to New York City with a dream, but was a bit fearful of his truth. It affirms that I’m right where I’m supposed to be, and that everything’s going to be okay. And I really hope this film is a resource and something tangible for someone who needs to see it, because I do believe seeing is believing.
